In a 1 1/2 quart pitcher, combine the grapefruit juice and lemon juice and set aside.
Place 1 tsp and one mint sprig in each of 4 12-ounce glasses. With the back of a spoon, crush the mint into the sugar. Fill the glasses with ice cubes, divide the grapefruit juice mixture among them, then top with the soda water. Stir briskly to mix, add a sprig of mint to each drink and serve.
